This is a thing we do, we as in Lynn and Michael Chealander and Amy Mihyang. It began sometime in 2006 but was festering in Michael’s synapses long before that.
Facedowns are from over 2 dozen countries and at least 10 American states…and counting, of course. They do not highlight a community of anonymous submissions. Instead there is a focus on the locations and the relationship we all have with the quintessential ‘tourist photo.’ Don’t think about it too much though. We’ll be delighted if you’re simply amused.
It’s a lot like the worldwide extreme hangover site I saw a gazillion pages back
a little like it. except we’re sober and lying down on purpose!
Hey,
I found your idea quite entertaining. I’ll be adding it to the links section on my blog if that’s alright 😉

Keep it coming 🙂
Thanks for linking us, Zohar! We appreciate it. Best of luck with your projects.
I already do GRRR photos, which are fun. I might have to add this to my posed-photo repertoire. Thanks for sharing.
I love it! Beautiful Idea!

What a great idea! Can’t stop giggling. ^^
Beautiful pictures. I didn’t see all yet, but I will.
And if you guys haven’t been to Trier, Germany’s oldest city, yet, you should come! You need a facedown in front of Porta Nigra. 😉
Greetings,
Katinka from Trier

I think this is a wonderful idea 😀 it looks like you had a lot of fun doing this
I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. Truly bizarre and entertaining. Hope to see more in the future.
Discovered your blog through Dude Craft. Loved the different locations and pictures. I’m going to see if I can talk my family into doing some face downs.
Thanks for the inspiration!
this is SO funny! Me and 4 friends of mine are doing these facedowns for years!! We call them ‘Grevelingetjes’ I’ll send you our archive of pictures.
here is our Dutch entry for “Facedown of the year”
It’s taken me far too long to tell you guys how brilliant I think this is. Sorry for the delay!
Simply brilliant – bravo!
this is fantastic. there’s a lot of life in the facedowns, and I think it’s cool that we never see who you really are…
something about a tourist that never leaves the eye of the video camera comes to mind, but in a much more profound way. thank you.
if you are ever in san antonio, tx, you have to go to the Alamo and facedown some shots there. the sheriffs will probably have something to say, along the lines of ” Y’all ain’t from around here, are ya? We have laws against fun and games in front of the Alamo.” excellent work and keep making the world look closer at life!
weeeiird. I have the same sort of photos from my vacations — dating back 11 years and spanning several countries (and one aircraft carrier). Let me know if you’d be interested in seeing them
Do you accept posts from other people? Would you consider it?
hi alasdair,
sorry, the blog is just for the three of us.
You should look into making a site where fans can submit their own facedowns. I mean, unless there already isn’t on that I’m unaware of.
Hi Pat,
Thanks for for the suggestion. Barbie Hull made a fan page of our site where anyone can send in their own.

You gave me a good laugh 🙂 Now I’ll have to spread the word about facedowns to my friends!

Dear Lynn and Michael Chealander and Amy Mihyang,
I have love what you have done here. Pure Hilarity and genius. In honor of your amazing creativity – I along with friends have created a facebook facedown group, and hope to attempt to emulate your brilliance, and continue the laughs. As the Orginial facedowns – I hope you will join us!
